Hatha Yoga
I incorporate various yoga styles within my Hatha Yoga classes, from flow and vinyasa movement, to static holds and gentle supported opening poses.
My classes are suitable for people of all ages and abilities and offer a warm, welcoming and relaxed environment. I provide clear guidance and students are encouraged to develop within their own capabilities. Classes typically focus on self-observation of breath awareness, alignment, strengthening and softening.
Hatha Yoga, in its contemporary sense, is a physical practice that brings balance to the body and mind. Practitioners of Hatha yoga will look to achieve this through movement of the body, in union with the breath, into set postures known as Asanas. Breathing practices, known as Pranayama, are used to develop the quality of the breath and the practice of Pratyahara allows for withdrawal of the senses and quietening of the mind.
The practice of Hatha yoga improves strength, flexibility, stamina, balance and proprioception. It benefits the body’s respiratory, lymphatic and digestive systems. It helps to calm the nervous system, improve focus and enhance general well-being.
